privacy policy.
1. Who We Are
PetBlocks ("PetBlocks", "we", "us") turns photos of your pet into a custom, buildable block set design and, if you order one, makes and ships the physical set. This policy explains what we collect through the PetBlocks iOS app and website, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. Questions? Email support@petblocks.shop.
2. Information We Collect
We collect only what we need to run PetBlocks:
- Account information: your email address and, if you use Sign in with Apple or Google, the account identifier and name those services share with us. If you use Apple's "Hide My Email", we receive a relay address instead of your real one.
- Pet photos and details: the photos you take or choose, your pet's name, the breed, pet type and coat color we detect, and the block set images we generate.
- Order information: for physical orders, the recipient name, shipping address, email and order history.
- Subscription and purchase history: your plan, its status, renewal and trial dates, and which offer you purchased.
- Device information: device model, iOS and app version, language, time zone, screen size, the identifier for vendor (IDFV), your IP address and, only if you allow tracking, your device's advertising identifier (IDFA).
- App activity: in-app events such as signing in, uploading a photo, finishing a build, viewing an offer or starting checkout, linked to your account.
- Push notification token: if you allow notifications, a token that lets us send them to your device.
- Support messages: anything you send us by email.
3. How We Use Your Information
- Create your account and keep you signed in
- Identify your pet's breed and generate your block set design
- Process subscriptions and orders, and make and ship physical sets
- Send the notifications described below
- Understand how the app is used and fix problems
- Measure our advertising, as described in section 5
- Prevent abuse (for example, enforcing build limits) and meet legal obligations
- Answer your support requests
4. AI Processing of Your Photos
To identify your pet's breed and create your block set image, we send your photo to AI services from Google (Gemini) and OpenAI using their API services. Breed detection uses Google Gemini, with OpenAI as a backup when Gemini is unavailable. Image generation uses Google Gemini.
- We ask for your permission in the app before your first photo is uploaded.
- We send the photo and the details needed for the request (such as breed and color), not your name or email address.
- We do not use your photos to train our own AI models.
- Google and OpenAI process these requests under their API terms and data policies, which are available on their websites.
5. Advertising and Tracking
PetBlocks uses Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT). The app asks whether you allow tracking, and you can change your answer at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- If you allow tracking: we share certain events (such as sign up, trial start, subscription and purchase) with Meta and TikTok to measure and improve our ads. This can include your advertising identifier, device information, IP address and hashed (scrambled) versions of your email address and account ID.
- If you don't allow tracking: we don't send your data to Meta or TikTok for advertising.
- Apple's SKAdNetwork and AdAttributionKit may report to ad networks, in aggregate and without identifying you, that an install or purchase came from an ad.
- We do not sell your personal information.
6. Payments
- Purchases made through our web checkout (subscriptions and physical orders) are processed by Whop. Whop collects your payment details; we never see or store your full card number.
- Purchases made through the App Store are processed by Apple. We receive confirmation of the purchase, not your payment details.
- If you join our affiliate program, Whop handles affiliate tracking and payouts.
7. Push Notifications
With your permission, we send a notification when your pet's block set is ready and up to two reminders if you haven't viewed the result yet. Notifications are delivered through Expo's push service and Apple Push Notification service. You can turn them off in the app or in iOS Settings → Notifications → PetBlocks.
8. Sharing Links
Your pets are private unless you choose to share them. When you share a pet, we create a link to its block set render. Anyone with the link can see that render, so share it only with people you're comfortable with.
9. Who We Share Data With
We share data with service providers that help us run PetBlocks, only for the purposes above:
- Supabase: hosting, database, file storage and sign in
- Google (Gemini) and OpenAI: breed detection and image generation
- Superwall: showing subscription offers in the app
- Whop: payments, subscriptions and the affiliate program
- Apple: Sign in with Apple, App Store purchases and push delivery
- Google: Sign in with Google, if you use it
- Expo: delivering push notifications
- Meta and TikTok: ad measurement, only if you allow tracking
- Manufacturing and shipping partners: making and delivering physical orders
- Authorities: when required by law, or to protect our users or our rights
10. How Long We Keep Data
We keep your account, pets and photos while your account is open. When you delete your account, we delete your account, pets and photos. We keep records of physical orders, no longer linked to your account, as long as needed for fulfillment, accounting, tax and legal purposes, and we keep app activity records without the link to your account for aggregate statistics. Our service providers keep data according to their own retention policies.
11. Deleting Your Account
You can delete your account at any time in the app: Profile → Delete account. This permanently deletes your account, pets and photos, and cancels any subscription you bought through our web checkout (Whop). Subscriptions bought through the App Store are managed by Apple; cancel them in iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions. You can also ask us to delete your data by emailing support@petblocks.shop.
12. Children
PetBlocks is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
13. International Transfers
We and our service providers may process your information in the United States and other countries whose data protection laws may differ from those where you live. Where the law requires it, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses, for these transfers.
14. Your Rights
Depending on where you live (for example, under the GDPR in the EU and UK or the CCPA in California), you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you and get a copy
- Correct inaccurate information
- Delete your information
- Object to or restrict certain processing, or withdraw consent (for example, by turning off tracking or notifications)
- Opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for targeted advertising (we don't sell personal information, and we only share it for advertising if you allow tracking)
- Not be treated differently for using these rights
- Complain to your local data protection authority
To make a request, email support@petblocks.shop. We may need to verify your identity first.
15. Cookies
Our website uses essential cookies and local storage to keep you signed in and remember your preferences.
16. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version on this page and update the "Last updated" date. If the changes are significant, we will also let you know in the app or by email.
